STOP
- The first step is to give your bathroom a makeover and set free the toxic bottles of empty promises. There is no need for chemicals to feel fresh and to be clean.
- Stop applying questionable “natural” products. Just because there is an image of lavender fields on the label does not mean the bottle is full of intelligent ingredients.
- Stop irritating the skin through the guts with processed food, refined carbs, synthetic sugars, soy, and processed vegetable oils that quickly oxidize, prematurely age, and hyper pigment skin.
SEAL
- The next step in healing the skin is to repair the hydro-lipid barrier that seals the skin. It is time to stop the spin-cycle of surfactants and begin washing with oils.
- It may seem strange, washing with oils. People think that oil will leave their skin feeling oily and less than clean, though this isn’t the case when organic, authentic, fresh-pressed botanical oils are used to cleanse the face.
- Indeed, not all oils are created equal. Soothing serums of seabuckthorn and jojoba deliver phospholipids and balance the biome, keeping cells perfectly plump. Jojoba is perfect for the task because it is symbiotic with our sebum. No more nitpicking pores! Jojoba unplugs pores by dissolving oxidized sebum.
SEED
- Healing and sealing the guts are as foundational to skincare as digestion is a direct door to every pore. A less-than-stellar diet and digestive disorders will manifest in the skin. If you experience a reoccurring rash or stubborn acne, tune in to your diet and skin cycles and see if there are foods triggering it.
- Avoid processed foods, GMO foods, excess gluten and dairy that can contribute to chronic inflammation, spikes in blood sugar levels, and digestive upset. Also avoid cooking with rancid, processed fats and oils that oxidize on the grocery store shelf and contribute to premature ageing and hyperpigmented skin. Build your body’s reserve of bacteria by ingesting probiotics through your favourite fermented foods.
