The Oil Cleansing Method for Radiant Skin

Posted by Ilanta Sa on

Cleansing with oil is the most effective way to cleanse, soothe and balance your skin

Healthy glowing skin, free of blemishes and imperfections seems to be an elusive goal. The booming skin care industry would have us believe the need to rid our skin of oil entirely and replace it with unnatural oil-free substitutions to avoid blemishes. Even products meant for dry skin and anti-ageing claim to be oil-free, yet how many people with oily skin do you know who also have a face full of wrinkles? Not many. Modern society has been so strongly influenced by false marketing claims that some find themselves washing their face with “grease cutting” or “antibacterial” soap only to see that it does nothing but aggravate their skin and their skin’s condition worsens. The anxiety that rises when yet another painful lump forms or an irritating rash flares up sends many into overdrive in an attempt to counter the impending damage. But does it ever work? Does the panicked scrubbing, disinfecting, or anti-inflammatory cream ever work? Why is it that if something works for a few days, or if you get lucky, a few weeks, the long-term brings the blemishes back? The cycle seems endless. It’s exhausting, painful, and embarrassing. Not to mention expensive.

Consider adopting the ancient method of washing the skin with oil. It may seem strange, washing with fats. People think that oil will leave their skin feeling oily and less than clean, yet the exact opposite is experienced when washing with the right oils.

A lotion is made by combining oil and water with an emulsifier, so think about it: washing with oil creates a fresh lotion on your face – oil with water, and no need for all the added less than natural ingredients. Essential oils will help with their anti-microbial, anti-bacterial and beautifying effect. Essential oils protect us in the same way that they protect the plant against pathogens while assisting friendly bacteria too. Each oil is made of hundreds of individual substances that defy the development of bacteria resistance. The same substances that kill pathogens also boost the skin’s beauty by removing toxins, delivering nutrients and stimulating cells.

Beauty glows with a balanced skin microbiome. Washing with botanical oils gently and effectively cleanses and exfoliates the skin while maintaining moisture and the integrity of the precious skin top layer.

Plants evolved alongside with us, and their oils harmonise with our skin. The antimicrobial properties of essential oils combined with the gentle oils lift away the daily accumulation of dirt, toxins and makeup, while healing, not harming, the skin’s surface.

But not all oils are effective as cleansers – some are too oily, some are rancid off-the-shelf. It is vital to choose the right oils if you want to create your own. Jojoba oil is excellent for certain climates where dryness is prevalent (Switzerland!) and is perfect to deliver phospholipids and balance the biome, keeping cells perfectly plump. It also settles overactive sebaceous glands and unplugs pores by dissolving oxidised sebum.

How to Wash With Oils – 3 easy steps: use any of the BSE oils or probiotic line for an excellent experience

  1. Dampen a small area of an organic cotton, hemp or linen cloth with water. Squeeze it out.
  2. Apply a squirt of the botanical oil to the damp cloth.
  3. Gently massage the face with the cloth. Massage gently to cleanse, or vigorously to exfoliate the skin. Rinsing is optional. You can also apply a hydrosol like our Rose Glow. If you would like added moisture, squirt a few drops of a skin serum or cream onto your fingertips and massage into face.

When nature provides such exquisite and active elements to attend to our skin graciously, we must see the use of synthetics as the definition of insanity.
