Naturkostbar Criollo cacao powder is particularly flavourful, develops hardly any bitterness, has little acidity, and is full of nutrients. It comes from the Junín region in the Amazon region of Peru. The natural cultivation and harvesting of the cacao beans improves the living conditions of the small farmers and at the same time protects the rainforest sustainably.

Criollo cacao accounts for only five percent of global cacao production, which is why it is one of the finest and most exclusive raw materials. This cacao variety grows in mixed cultures. It is not alkalised and has a low cadmium content, so everyone can enjoy it without hesitation.
After harvesting, the cacao (also called cocoa) beans are gently fermented, dried, and processed into nibs. After cacaoa butter pressing, the nutrient-rich cacao press cake remains, which is ground into fine Criollo cacao powder without any further treatment and at a gentle temperature.
